Board Of Directors
Sean Griffin
Chairman of The Board
Sean Griffin is a graduate from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science, while on a football athletic scholarship. While playing football at Michigan, he was awarded the Big 10 Sportsman of the Year, and the honor of being a multiple Game Captain. Mr. Griffin has spent his entire life around athletics. After a brief NFL career, Mr. Griffin spent several years working as an Assistant Athletic Director at Detroit Catholic Central High School, allowing him to learn the intricacies of funding, planning, and other essentials of operating an athletic department. Mr. Griffin has taken the knowledge he learned from this position into founding GEAR as a way to help underfunded athletic departments operate. Mr. Griffin also uses his board experience from two other board positions; in mentoring coaches on the best ways to reach their players and an organization which celebrates the academic and athletic achievements in Detroit inner city. With 16 years of football, 12 years of hockey, 8 years of basketball, and 6 years of baseball; Mr. Griffin’s entire life has been surrounded by athletics. He credits his hard work, time management, leadership, and working well with a group to his years of athletics.
